The seven seas.
I have sailed the seven seas.
Seen all there is to see.
Been on an ocean of blue,
Just to prove that even you
Can do whatever I can do.
I have heard the devils cry,
Seen an enemy oh so sly,
I have seen men call the war cry.
I have seen the battles lust,
It was a deadly thrust,
To destroy the ships is a must.
But beyond this deadly battle screen,
Is a beautiful world in between the un-for-seen.
But whatever lay ahead, I will soon find it despite my own dread.
The navy has taught me courage and might,
But they never told us about all the fright.
They told me to do my best,
It is exactly what they told the rest.
I have seen the whole world from tip to tip,
It should have been an easy trip
But yet I soon learned, everything would do a backwards flip.
I watched as the men were hurt,
But yet I couldn’t understand it all,
This was the time that I would fall.
But even if I die,
I was glad to serve among the best,
Considered strong by all the men,
I will soon take a permanent rest.

I like the way you made the end of every line rhyme with the one before it. It is a very strong poem about sailors. I like it a lot.
ReplyDeleteI liked this poem, it was as if you were there at the war.
ReplyDeleteYou did a good job rhyming the lines.
Nice poem.
